Disarm UCL campaign builds up steam

October 30, 2007

Campaigners at University College London (UCL) are gearing up for a week of protest against the investments held by their university. They are hoping this will be the final stage of the campaign for divestment, broadly supported by students, staff and alumni.

The Disarm UCL campaign was launched early this year. It quickly gained the support of the Student Union, who almost unanimously backed the implementation of an ethical investment policy. Over 1,200 UCL staff and students signed a petition calling for divestment, after which UCL Provost, Malcolm Grant, announced he would support such a move.
